ANM & GNM

ANM stands for Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery it is a diploma course which focus on the study of health care of various individuals. It also taught about how to take care of equipment, setting up of Operation Theater, provide medication timely to patient and maintain records .ANM course trains the students & make them capable to work as basic health workers. ANM’s main focus is given towards the treatment of children, women & old age people.

The ANM and GNM course is practically a diploma programme which allows non-science students to pursue a career in nurse practitioner.

GNM referred as General Nursing and Midwifery it deals with the education of nurses in general health care, nursing, and midwifery.

ANM is a two year diploma course and GNM is a three and half year diploma course and service areas are same for ANM & GNM diploma holders.

Eligibility:

How to pursue these courses?

ANM is a two year duration course with the eligibility of 10+2 (from Arts or Science stream). Students have to secure at least 40-50% marks in the qualifying examination. The minimum age requirement is 17 years.  Students age should not exceed more than 35 years.

GNM is a three and half year diploma course with the eligibility of 10+2 passed(from Arts or Science stream) subjects. The age limit is minimum 17 years and maximum 30 years. This course is for both male and female students.

You can apply for GNM course after passing 10+2 with any streams from any recognized board and for ANM course you can apply after passing 10+2 from science or arts stream. Some colleges and institutions organize entrance exam for providing admissions while some other colleges gives admission on the basis of interview and marks obtained in the 10+2.
