JNU Admission Process 2024
JNU admission 2023 is currently open. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) ranked 2 under the ‘University’ category and no. 10 under the ‘Overall’ category by the NIRF 2023 Rankings. Currently, Jawaharlal Nehru University comprises nearly 20 schools and centres of study offering over 100 courses with a wide range of specialisations. These courses are offered in various streams such as Arts, Technology, Management, Science, etc, at UG, PG and doctorate levels.
Jawaharlal Nehru University course admissions are entrance-based. Additionally, JNU admission to BA (Hons.) in Foreign Languages, BSc-MSc Integrated Programme in Ayurveda Biology and Certificate of Proficiency courses is based on CUET-UG scores. For PG courses, CUET-PG and some other national-level exams are accepted.
JNU Admission 2024: Eligibility & Selection
Apart from CUET-UG, the university also accepts JEE Main scores for admitting students to BTech courses. JNU MBA admission is based on the CAT score, conducted by IIMs. It also accepts CUET-PG scores for admission to MA, MSc, MCA, MPH, MTech, Post Graduate Diploma, and Advanced Diploma courses. For JNU admission 2023 to MSc in Biotechnology and MSc in Computational Biology Programme, shall be through GAT-B scores. JNU Admission Process 2024
JNU admission process is entrance-based. From 2022, admission to various UG and PG courses is through CUET-UG and CUET-PG, respectively, at JNU. For BTech and MBA courses, national-level exam scores such as JEE Main and CAT, respectively are also accepted. The selection criteria vary from one course to another. Details about each of the stages in the admission process are provided below:
STEP 1: JNU Application Process 2024
The online registration is the first step of the JNU course admission. Eligible candidates can apply through the JNU official website (jnu.ac.in). Candidates applying to courses through CUET should have selected JNU as a preference during the CUET application process. Moreover, aspirants shall keep them updated with the important dates to avoid missing out JNU application deadline.
STEP 2: Selection Rounds/Release of Selection List
After the conclusion of the application process, the candidates are shortlisted based on the respective entrance exam scores (for MBA & BTech). These shortlisted candidates are then required to take part in the selection rounds, such as group discussions and personal interview rounds, after which a final list is released. For admission through CUET, the university will release a merit list or cutoff.
STEP 3: Counselling
Selected candidates have to participate in the JNU counselling for course admission (Except for MBA). During the counselling, verification and seat allotment is carried out.
STEP 4: Admission Confirmation
In the last step, selected candidates may have to go through a document verification round. Following this, the candidates can be asked to pay some amount of the fees in order to confirm their seat.
What is the JNU CUET Counselling Process 2024?
Candidates who appeared for CUET-UG can apply for JNU UG & Certificate of Proficiency (COP) courses. Some of the courses for which CUET score is accepted are BA (H) in Foreign Languages, BSc-MSc integrated course in Ayurveda, and COP programmes. Admission is granted to the JNU School of Language, Literature & Cultural Studies and to the School of Sanskrit & Indic Studies. Aspirants must meet course-specific eligibility criteria. Selection is based on CUET score and deprivation points. Moreover, the steps involved in the JNU admission process through CUET are explained below:
STEP 1: Visit the JNU official website (jnu.ac.in) to register and create login credentials.
STEP 2: Login with the ID and password to start filling out the application form, and document upload. Candidates may have to upload their CUET scorecard as well.
STEP 3: Check the details carefully and submit the form.
STEP 4: After the conclusion of the registration process, merit lists are released, which can be checked online by entering the application number and password.
STEP 5: Selected candidates can confirm their seats by paying the required fee or as directed by the university.
